Co|lor, Co|lour ['kʌlə[r]; amer. color, engl. colour = Farbe], die; -; -s: Syn.: Farbe (3), Farbladung: in der Elementarteilchenphysik Phantasiename für eine den Quarks zugeschriebene Eigenschaft, der eine dreiwertige Quantenzahl (C.) mit den Namen »Rot«, »Blau« u. »Grün« bzw. (in den Antiquarks) deren Komplementärfarben (Anticolor) zugeordnet wird. Im Denkmodell der Quantenchromodynamik ist die C. der Quarks als Quelle der Gluonen u. damit einer starken Wechselwirkung anzusehen.
